At the Zoo

the zoo is a pretty sad one. The animals are all in barren cages or enclosures, without any plants or anything to do. It kind of hurts my heart to see animals treated that way, so I will not put up any pictures from the zoo except for these two. The first is of YuanYuan all bundled up in the stroller, looking at an animal.

The second is for Papa - wild birds at the zoo. I think they are probably sparrows It was really nice to hear birds. Our hotel here and in Beijing are in downtown areas. We hear a lot of traffic and people, but no wildlife at all.

We did see the bear that our guide Megan said was a "rock star" when she was a little girl. Her grandparents would bring her to the zoo, and this bear was trained and would dance and pray in the Buddhist way, etc. It was a popular attraction. Now it just curls up in the corner and doesn't do anything at all.
